PURPOSE: A method for detecting the first arrival pulse in an ultrasound transmission computed tomography using a windowed nonlinear energy operator is provided to present the excellent detection rate in terms of accuracy and operation speed by coupling a window function to a nonlinear energy operator so as to be suitable for the situation of ultrasound transmission computed tomography. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting the first arrival pulse in an ultrasound transmission computed tomography comprises the steps of: obtaining the electric pulse sequence of arrived ultrasonic signal by penetrating an object(S21); calculating a nonlinear energy operator based on the obtained electric pulse sequence(S22); calculating a windowed nonlinear energy operator by convoluting a window function to the calculated nonlinear energy operator(S23); and detecting the first arrival pulse by applying a threshold operator to the windowed calculated nonlinear energy operator(S24).
