PURPOSE: A recording medium, a recording method thereof, and a recording/play device are provided to store long-term storage records by allocating a non-recoding area and a new information area to a data area.;CONSTITUTION: An optical pickup(80) records data by emitting light to a recording medium. A memory stores information about a range of a new information area and a range of effective data area. A control unit(120) allocates a non-recoding area and the new information area to a data area based on the information stored in the memory. The control unit controls the recording of information related to recording media. The control unit generates a control signal for controlling the tracking and focusing operation of the optical pickup from a signal inputted through a signal processing unit(90). The non-recording area is allocated to a read-in area, a read-out area to each adjacent part.
