PURPOSE: A support size calculation method is provided to estimate the optimal size of a pipe support with the minimum amount of work by calculating an arbitrary load on the pipe support and comparing the calculated load with a reference load. CONSTITUTION: A system builds a database using data for the sizes of the pipe support, member sizes, etc. (S10). The type and the size of a pipe support are checked from a pipe layout (S20). Depending on the load by pipe size, a first arbitrary load is calculated (S30) and a pipe support member is selected (S40). Whether the stress of a pipe is analyzed is determined (S50) and the type and the size of a pipe support and the size of the member are determined (S60). The first load set by a designer is verified through a relevant process, and a second load of the pipe support is calculated (S70). By comparing the first load and the second load, the pipe support is determined (S80).
