PURPOSE: A novel nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD^+) model compound induced from NAD^+ analogs is provided to enable regioselective reduction, and to be used as a coenzyme in biocatalytic reaction that an achiral compound is converted to a chiral compound.;CONSTITUTION: A compounds is selected from the group consisting of 3-carbamoyl-1- (4-methylbenzyl)pyridinium, 3-carbamoyl-1- (4-nitrobenzyl)pyridinium, 1-benzyl-3- (dimethylcarbamoyl)pyridinium, and 1-benzyl-3- (phenylcarbamoyl)pyridinium. A reduced compound is selected from the group consisting of 3-carbamoyl-1- (4-methylbenzyl)pyridinium, 3-carbamoyl-1- (4-nitrobenzyl)pyridinium, 1-benzyl-3- (dimethylcarbamoyl)pyridinium, and 1-benzyl-3- (phenylcarbamoyl)pyridinium. A method for preparing the reduced compound comprises the step of adding [Cp*Rh (bpy) (H_2O)]^2+ to the compound and reacting. Cp* is pentamethylcyclopentadienyl and bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine. An enzyme-coenzyme complex is prepared by combination of the compound and a coenzyme-dependent enzyme.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
