PURPOSE: A signal detecting method in a communication system which has a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel is provided to perform a search according to a level-by-level which is based on an estimation of a transmission signal vector by a standard of a minimum mean square error (MMSE).;CONSTITUTION: An MMSE estimation about a transmission symbol vector is performed. The covariance matrix of the MMSE estimation is determined. A triangular matrix is determined by using the covariance matrix. Accumulation metrics of the number of symbol candidate vectors which are predetermined in layerwise are determined by using the triangular matrix (309).
