PURPOSE: A device for processing an operations, administration, and maintenance (OAM) frame of a packet transmission network and a method for the same are provided to apply a proved international telecommunications union telecommunication (ITU-T)-based OAM method to a multiprotocol label switching-transport profile (MPLS-TP)-based packet transmission network based on a transmitted packet and possibly apply an IP/MPLS OAM method under a modifying operation to the network afterwards.;CONSTITUTION: A network OAM management unit (10) selects an OAM frame which requires real time processing based on label information included in a transmitted packet. The network OAM management unit manages the state of the selected OAM frame. A non-real time OAM processing unit (20) manages the state of an OAM frame without the demand for real time processing.
