PURPOSE: An apparatus for providing supplementary information through digital media content, a method and a system thereof are provided to highlight a selected item according as a user selects the item displayed during reproduction of the media content first, and then to display the related supplementary information according to the secondary selection for the highlighted item.;CONSTITUTION: If user selection is detected in the media content under reproduction, a supplementary information providing terminal part detects a selected item (S1). When the user selection is a first selection, the terminal part highlights at least a part of the item according to whether there is supplementary information related to the item or not, according to the established display forms (S2, S3, S5).
