PURPOSE: A fluorescent substance is provided to have an excellent luminous efficiency in the white light emitting diode and an active luminescence type liquid crystal display. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent substance is formularized as the following chemical formula 1: (M_(1-x-y)A_xB_ y)_4D_(2-z)O_9; and 0x=0.5, 0.001=y0.5, 0=z=1.5; M is one kind of element which is selected from Tb and Lu; A is one kind of element which is selected from group which comprises Ba, Ca, Sr, La, Y, Gd, Dy, Pr, Yb, Lu and Tm; B is lanthanide; D is one kind of element which is selected from Al and Ga; however, two kinds which are selected from M, A, B and D should not be identical.
