PARALLEL PYRAMID ENTROPY CODING FOR VIDEO AND IMAGE COMPRESSION CAPABLE OF OBTAINING THE SAME PROCESSING CLOCK SPEED AT A LOWER CLOCK SPEED BY IMPLEMENTING PARALLELIZABLE CODING TECHNIQUES
PURPOSE: A parallel pyramid entropy coding for video and image compression is provided to eliminate the interdependence of code blocks, thereby processing the code blocks in parallel.;CONSTITUTION: A computer system divides a code block into pixel groups (204). If further division on new pixel groups is determined, the computer system divides the pixel groups into sub blocks (206). Local prefix codes are provided at each layer (208).
