PURPOSE: A method for controlling the degradation of biodegradable polyester is provided to cap the carboxyl terminal of a biodegradable polyhydroxyalkanoate or a copolymer thereof, thereby simply suppressing the biodegradation due to a breakdown enzyme.;CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the degradation of biodegradable polyester includes a step of blocking biodegradation by capping the carboxyl terminal of a biodegradable polyester. The biodegradable polyester is selected from polylactic acid, polyglycolic acid, poly(D,L-lactic acid-co-glycol acid), polycaprolactone, polyhydroxyalkanoate, aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, and polyesters consisting of aliphatic diol, and mixtures thereof.
