PURPOSE: An expansion joint device for a bridge and maintaining method thereof are provided to reduce the maintenance time and to simply maintain the expansion joint device for a bridge. CONSTITUTION: A maintenance method of an expansion joint device for a bridge comprises a step(S1) of forming work space by individually removing corners of two bridge in order to expose an upper elastic joint member; a step(S2) of removing the upper elastic joint member; a step(S3) of individually connecting a first and a second auxiliary plate to each side of a first and a second plate; a step(S4) of placing and curing an elastic concrete in the work space of a bridge slab; a step(S5) of connecting a sealing member between the first and the second auxiliary plate.
