TRANSVERSE TYPE MUFFLER CAPABLE OF IMPLEMENTING A SPORTY TONE BY DIVIDING THE ROUTE OF EXHAUST GAS FLOWING INSIDE A MUFFLER

PURPOSE: A transverse type muffler capable of implementing a sporty exhaust tone by dividing the route of exhaust gas flowing inside a muffler is provided to make exhaust gas to flow inside a muffler in different routes depending on the operating speed of an engine, thereby reducing the overall sound volume and emphasizing the sporty exhaust sound.;CONSTITUTION: A transverse type muffler capable of implementing a sporty exhaust tone comprises an exhaust pipe(10), a housing(20), an intake chamber(32), an exhaust chamber(33), a first intermediate pipe(41), a second intermediate pipe(43), and a pair of tail pipes(51,53). The vent of the exhaust pipe is extended to the inside of the intake chamber which is connected to the exhaust chamber. The pair of tail pipes, which discharge exhaust gas to the outside of the housing, places the intake port on the inside of the exhaust chamber. The exhaust gas flowing into the intake chamber is discharged through the first intermediate pipe to the exhaust chamber, and then emitted through the tail pipes to the outside when the engine operates at a low speed. The exhaust gas flowing into the intake chamber is discharged through the second intermediate pipe, which is formed with an intake hole separated with a wider interval than the first intermediate pipe from the exhaust port of the exhaust pipe, to the exhaust chamber, and then emitted through the tail pipes to the outside when the engine operates at a high speed.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
