PURPOSE: A margin calculation device, a method thereof, and a recording medium thereof are provided to calculate contraction amount and margins based on the plane spreading of a curved surface and restore a plane to the curved surface, thereby accurately calculating the margins of a virtual curved welded object. CONSTITUTION: A curved surface spreading unit (110) generates a second virtual welded object of a plane by spreading a first virtual welded object of a curved surface to the plane. A contraction amount calculation unit (130) calculates the amount of contraction of the second virtual welded object corresponding to a welding line. A margin determination unit (150) determines margins for reducing the amount of contraction. A curved surface restoring unit (170) converts a third virtual welded object into a fourth virtual welded object of the curved surface.
