A DETECTION METHOD OF FACE CANDIDATE REGION OR SKIN REGION FOR COLOR IDENTIFICATION PHOTOGRAPHS

PURPOSE: A method for detecting a face candidate region or a skin region in a color identification (ID) photograph is provided to quickly search a face region only through color data within a picture regardless of lighting, thereby rapidly searching the face region in massive ID photograph data. CONSTITUTION: A reference pixel is positioned at the intersection between a vertical line, passing by the 1/2 position of the horizontal length of a color ID photograph, and a horizontal line corresponding to the 1/2 position of the horizontal length. Pixels existing around the reference pixel within a predetermined range are extracted. Color values for the extracted pixels are calculated. A face candidate region or a skin region is determined according to the calculated color values. The face candidate region or the skin region is determined according to the mean value or maximum/minimum value of the color values.
