A method of damping, respectively, suppressing mechanical vibrations that occur during operation in a blade (10, 26, 29) of a turbine machine, in which the mechanical vibrational energy of the blade (10, 26, 29) of a turbine machine is first converted into electrical energy, and then the generated electrical energy energy is converted into heat of losses, characterized in that the piezoelectric effect is used to convert mechanical vibrational energy into electrical energy. 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that for converting the mechanical vibrational energy into electrical energy, at least one piezoelectric damping element (SPE, SPE1, SPE2) is rigidly mounted in the blade (10, 26, 29) of the turbine machine to be damped, which is deformed due to mechanical vibrations of the blades (10, 26, 29) of the turbine machine and creates an electric voltage and with the help of the created electric voltage creates ohmic heat loss in the connected electric circuit (21). 3. The method according to claim 2, characterized in that the electric circuit contains, as a shunt (21), a serial circuit of inductance (L) and active resistance (R), which the piezoelectric damping element (SPE, SPE1, SPE2) contains in the form of a capacitance (C ) a piezoelectric body located between the electrodes (24) (22, 23) and that the resonant frequency of the obtained oscillatory circuit is tuned to the mechanical vibration of the blade (10, 26, 29) of the turbine machine to be damped. 4.
