FIELD: engines and pumps.;SUBSTANCE: basic piston-type engine is equipped with converted steam cylinder(s) instead of gas one(s), from which power is transmitted to compound engine. Combustion products are cooled in gas cylinders owing to water spraying in inlet air and their evaporation during fuel burning. Steam for operation of steam cylinder(s) is generated in steam generator as a result of feed water heating with oil heat of lubrication system and combustion products. Water drops evaporating in cylinders during fuel burning decrease thermal factor of the engine, suppress detonation and allow increasing combustion degree of petroleum and gas (with forced ignition) of engines, as well as increasing the quantity of working medium.
