According to the method of pulse energy calibration of a laser device generating working pulse laser light; working laser light generates multiple test ablations, preferentially test ablations by a number of pulses on one or more test objects with various pulse energies for each of the above ablations. A depth of each of the test ablations is measured; the measured ablations depths and set ablations depth are used to derive an associated set pulse energy to be specified on the laser device. The ablation depth is measured by a coherent optical interferometer.
