The door closer has a spring drive to provide the closer force and a closer shaft (3) coupling to a closer arm. The spring drive and the closer shaft are coupled with each other by a mechanical coupling arrangement such that the closer shaft is rotated by the spring drive in a rotational direction between two rotation angle positions around a longitudinal axis (X). The coupling arrangement has two separate coupling mechanisms. The closer shaft is coupled with the spring drive in a rotation angle area starting from the former rotation angle position over the former coupling mechanism.
