The device has a power input and a power output, and a pulsed rectifier (102) for producing direct current (DC) voltage based on alternating voltage. A pulsed inverter (104) inverts the DC voltage, and the power input is approximate equal to the power output, where the power output is not constant. A drive motor (105) e.g. synchronous motor, drives an air conditioning compressor with rotation energy, where input power of the drive motor is approximately equal to the power output and alteration of rotation energy. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a drive motor of an air conditioning compressor.
