The holding device has a stationarily anchored or anchorable holder (1), by which a retaining force is extendable against a strand (6) connectable with a user over a distance of movement of the user. A unit is provided for selectively anchoring at different counter-holders, where the anchoring unit has a rigid, particularly a hook-shaped anchoring element (15) and a flexible, particularly a strip-shaped connecting element. The anchoring unit is provided for attachment of the holder on a rail or a wall (16).
