The drum has a pot-shaped base body (10) made of a light metal. A friction body (28) is fastened at a radial inner surface (18) of the base body. Frictional force acts on the friction body during braking. The friction body is connected with the base body by a friction welding process i.e. rotation friction welding process, in material engagement manner. The radial inner surface pointing towards the friction body, and a radial outer surface (32) of the friction body pointing towards the base body are formed in a frustum shape. Grooves (24) thread-like run in a circumferential direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a brake drum.
