The method involves accommodating a metal structural part (1) through a manipulator i.e. six-axle industrial robot, and generating a powder cloud (3) from a coating powder. The structural part is carried out by the powder cloud, where the structural part to be coated is deposited. A paint powder and/or a corrosion protection powder are utilized as a coating powder that is magnetically and/or electrostatically loaded. The structural part is engaged in a position and grounded over the manipulator and/or electrostatic charged. The powder cloud is produced by a powder nozzle (4). An independent claim is also included for a system for coating a metal structural part.
