The device (TV) has an inlet port (EA) for forming a gas conducting connection with a high-pressure outlet of a high pressure gas filling system. A flow path (WH, WL) is formed from the inlet port to an outlet port (AA), where a valve device (SV) is arranged in the flow path. The valve device is adjusted on a variable flow resistance by a controllable actuator (VA). The actuator is controllable by a time-varying actuating signal (AS) of an electronic control device (SE). The control device is connected with the actuator over a releasable connection (DL). An independent claim is also included for a method for testing a high pressure gas filling system for filling a gas container with high pressure gas.
