The method involves moving a magnet (02) relative to the material (01) with a speed in a direction of movement, where a force is created between the magnet and the material, which has multiple force effects (F-x,F-y,F-z) in different directions. The two force effects are measured. A quotient is formed, whose dividend comprises the measure of the former force effect and the divisor comprises the measure of the latter force effect. The electrical conductivity (Sigma) of the material is determined by applying a calibration factor to the quotient. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for determining the electrical conductivity of a material.
