The instrument panel carrier is arranged for incorporating a steering column, electronic components, air bags and a dashboard, where a cross-beam (1) has two sections (2,3) in its longitudinal direction, which have cross-section configurations different from each other. The sections are coupled with each other by a tubular support arm (9).
