The device (1) has a compound (2) which is vertically movably arranged between two layers (L1,L2), where an energy conversion unit (4) is formed for converting the mechanical energy into an electrical energy. A return unit (9) is provided for returning the compound from the latter layer in the former layer. A lever arm (3) is coupled with the compound and the return unit such that the compound is arranged at an end (3a) of the lever arm. The return unit is arranged at another end (3b) of the lever arm. An independent claim is included for a method for storing energy and generating electrical energy.
