The fuel injector (10) has a valve needle (26) arranged in a housing (13) in longitudinally displaceable manner. The valve needle closes a scum hole (29) arranged in a high-pressure space (20) of the housing in a closed position and releases the scum hole for delivering of fuel in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine in an open position. An actuator is provided for actuating the valve needle. The valve needle is formed as nearly force balanced valve needle and the actuator is formed as magnet actuator (50).
