The device has a pressing device (28) includes a partial-width coil with an effective running surface. The pressing device presses webs (2, 12, 13) i.e. papers, printed with images (3) of printing image width (bs) in a printing unit (1) of a printing machine. The coil is in cooperation with rollers (26, 56, 57, 59) and arranged downstream to the printing unit in a web path such that the printed webs are guided between the rollers and the coil and pressed at the rollers in an engaging position of the coil. A cleaning device cleans the running surface of the coil. An independent claim is also included for a printing machine.
