The apparatus (1) has a storage chamber (3) for retaining moisture-containing cooling material, and a refrigerant circuit (2) for cooling the storage chamber. Piezoelectric fans (5) are provided for generating an air stream in the apparatus. The piezoelectric fans convey the air along a planar wall (7) of the storage chamber. The piezoelectric fans are attached at the planar wall. The planar wall is provided at lids (15) of a container (11) arranged in the apparatus. The piezoelectric fans are provided for ventilation of an evaporation shell (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a refrigeration apparatus.
