The system i.e. plug socket strip (1), has a sensor (6) including a testing unit (9) and a de-energizing unit (10), and performing determination of mechanical or electrical characteristics of a plug (2) by the sensor. Permissible electrical current connection properties are determined in dependence of properties to be determined by the testing unit. A physical connection between the plug and a socket is de-energized for the structure of a current connection to the extent of the permissible current connection properties by the de-energizing unit. The sensor is arranged in the socket. An independent claim is also included for a method for establishing a power connection between a power source and a power consumer with a plug-in connection system.
