The method involves multiplying a difference in temperature between temperature of exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine on a dot of a dew point end recognition and predetermined temperature with a factor, which is dependent on rotation speed (d) of the internal combustion engine. The obtained product is integrated over time to obtain an integral value (I) as a control value. An error is output when the integral value exceeds a threshold level before performing the dew point end recognition. The predetermined temperature corresponds to temperature for starting condensation vaporization in the exhaust gas tract. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions to execute a method for diagnosing a dew point end recognition in an exhaust gas tract of an internal combustion engine (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to execute a method for diagnosing a dew point end recognition in an exhaust gas tract of an internal combustion engine.
