The processing device has a processing unit (10) for processing the segment edge and a support device for movable supporting and guiding of the processing unit along the segment edge. The support device is fastened in area of the segment edge. A measuring unit is provided for determining the position of the processing unit with respect to a machining plane coplanar to a base (24). The measuring unit has a position generator (20) for measuring and transmitting the position of the processing unit. The measuring unit is formed as a laser measuring unit.
