The invention relates to a level sensor 8 in a fuel tank 1 of a motor vehicle, comprising a substrate 10 with a resistor network 11 disposed thereon, one or more electrical contacts 14, which in response to the pivoting of a lever arm 13 with the resistor network 11 for generating an electrical signal are in contact and a float 15 which is fixed to the lever arm 13 such that the lever arm 13 is movable level-dependent by the float 15. The level sensor 8 is connected to an electronic unit 17 and the electronics 17 is designed such that it provides a corresponding electrical desired signal to the electrical signals generated by the level sensor 8 in each case.
