The method involves detecting environment information of a motor car (1) by a detection unit (10). An energy output of two energy converters e.g. generator (3) and thermoelectric generator (4), is controlled for providing an overall performance of an electrical onboard network (2) based on the detected environment information. A required electrical overall performance for the onboard network is provided by the energy converters. The environment information are detected by a navigation system, and the energy output is controlled based on track information of the navigation system. An independent claim is also included for a motor car.
