The component (1) has a base body (2) made of a refractory metal. A melting point of the refractory metal corresponds to molybdenum. A thin layer (5) made of aluminum oxide is formed on the base body as a passivation layer. Intermetallic molybdenum and aluminum-phases are formed between the base body and the passivation layer. The intermetallic molybdenum and aluminum-phases contain fluorine, and are formed as boundary zones on the base body. Filling containing metal halides and mercury is filled in a discharge volume, which is surrounded by a ceramic discharge vessel. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a high intensity discharge lamp (2) a method for manufacturing a lamp component.
