The device has a feed pump (2) i.e. controllable electrical fuel pump, by which fuel amount, sucked from a fuel supply container (1), is supplied to a drive chamber (4) of a high-pressure pump (5) over an inlet line (3). A return-flow pipe (6) is attached to the drive chamber and provided for returning of lubricant-, coolant- and/or leakage amount into the container or into the inlet line. Valves (7, 7') e.g. non-return valve and overflow valve, are arranged in the inlet line and/or the return-flow pipe.
