The method involves detecting temperature (Ts) in a measurement region of an electromotor (16). Temperature (Tw) in a predetermined area i.e. winding (10), of the electromotor is calculated using the detected temperature and starting temperature corresponding to the temperature in the predetermined area during the operation of the electromotor, where the starting temperature is determined based on the temperature calculated at the time of termination of the operation and a time duration from a time point of termination of the operation to a time point intended for retaining the operation.
