The filter (1) has a filter region (2) projected into a drinking container i.e. cup, where the filter is automatically held on the drinking container. The filter is folded to form the filter region, a holding portion (3) and an edge area (4). The holding portion is formed to rest on an upper outer edge of the container. The edge area is slightly pressed at the upper outer edge of the drinking container. The filter region, the holding portion and the edge area are formed as one-piece from same material. An embossing seam (6) is reinforced in addition to a seam (7) by sticking or clipping.
