The pipe (1) has a metal strip, and a self-adhesive insulation strip (7) designed in a helical-line shape and wound on a flexible wall (4) with a constant inclination. A base strip (6) is formed as a non-adhesive base for the insulation strip. Another self-adhesive insulation strip is wound on the former insulation strip, where the insulation strips are designed with different material thicknesses. Metallic foil strips are glued radially outwardly on the former insulation strip and provided with a narrow adhesive, and a gap is formed between two adjacent windings of the foil strips. An independent claim is also included for a method for application of insulation on a pipe.
