The cell has a negative electrode and/or a positive electrode comprising an electrochemical active material, which forms a solid electrolyte interface, a solid electrolyte interface layer on parts of a surface of the negative electrode and/or the positive electrode. The electrochemical active material is partially treated by a predetermined procedure, which does not contain charging or discharging steps and contains solid electrolyte interface layer regeneration and/or formation steps. The electrochemical active material is treated with electrolyte and/or additive. An independent claim is also included for a method for regenerating electrochemical active material.
