The charge state of a built-in accumulator strand comprising accumulators is checked. Voltage of 24.5V and base load current of 10-50 amperes are applied for capacity-dependent duration. The voltages of the accumulators are measured, and the battery with lower voltage is detected as a defective battery if the difference between the voltage of accumulators exceeds a specified amount. High current of 50-1500 amperes is generated for 5-25 seconds. The accumulator testing process is repeated until the capacity of the batteries reaches 35-45% of the rated capacity.
