Use of diclofenac for the prevention and treatment of influenza infections as well as disease symptoms caused by influenza infections

The invention describes a hitherto unknown indication of the well-known active ingredient diclofenac, namely the use of diclofenac including its physiologically acceptable compounds / salts for the prophylaxis and treatment of influenza-like infections as well as illnesses caused by influenza-like infections. The invention can treat the multiplicity of symptoms of a flu infection with only a single, well-known and low-side-effect active ingredient very effectively. Administration of diclofenac significantly shortens disease duration. Preventive diclofenac administration can also largely prevent the onset of a flu infection.
