The evaluation method involves exciting a component to generate the sound, where the sound of the component is recorded by a sensor for detection of sound. An analysis method is performed on a recorded time signal of the sound for identifying the characteristics in classes,where the characteristics are classified into multiple classes using different analysis methods on the time signal. The selection of the best analysis method is performed for different analysis methods by pattern matching for different possible errors of the component. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for acoustic evaluation of a component.
