The method involves supplying air to a fuel cell (3) using an electric turbocharger (10). A turbine (11) of electric turbocharger is operated with respect to the gas flow from the fuel cell. A burner (14) is arranged at upstream of the turbine. A cooling system is provided for removing the waste heat from fuel cell by using a cooling medium. The fuel is supplied to the burner in dependence of temperature of the cooling medium.
