The device (1) has a post (3) and a grip device that has gripper arms (42.1, 42.2) i.e. forks. An actuation device (30) i.e. lever (50), connected with the grip device is provided with a foot bar (52), where the grip device is pivotable around an axis (SG). The post has a cavity (5) that accommodates an ejecting device and a supply device. The ejecting device is movable in the cavity of the post by an ejector actuation device in an axial direction (20). The post is symmetrically formed around a post axis. An independent claim is also included for a method for mechanical removal of plants i.e. weeds.
