The air bearing (1) has a foil bearing (2) provided with a bearing ring (4) that is connected with a bearing housing (3). A shaft (5) of a turbomachine is arranged on inner side of the bearing ring. A carrier foil (6) and a cover foil (7) are provided between the bearing ring and the shaft. A sliding layer (8) is provided between the cover foil and the shaft. The sliding layer is located on an upper surface of the shaft. The sliding layer is designed as a coating made of partially crystalline polymer, polytetrafluoroethylene and ceramic material.
