The method involves fastening a temperature threshold and comparing detected temperature with the temperature threshold. Time for exceeding the temperature threshold is detected over a certain period, where the detected time for exceeding of the temperature threshold is used as influence variable on the operation of a volumetric flow meter (1). The detection of the temperature is made by the measuring temperature of a medium (2) using a build-side temperature detecting unit. An independent claim is also included for a volumetric flow meter.
