The leather intermediate product has a tanned base leather product or gap base leather (2), which has a grain side and a flesh side. A textile fabric (4) is applied on the grain side of the gap base leather, which is adhered to the grain side by an adhesive, particularly a hot melt adhesive (3). The textile fabric has an outside surface, and the adhesive does not extend beyond the outer surface of the textile fabric. The textile fabric comprises textile threads and openings (6) between the textile threads. The hot melt adhesive is penetrated partially into the openings between the threads. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a leather intermediate product.
