The machine has a moving part e.g. rotor of a linear motor, and a stationary part (5) e.g. stator of the linear motor, with main teeth (1) e.g. intermediate teeth, and grooves (2) at the stationary part. Each main tooth adjoins from one of the grooves, and windings (3) are arranged in the grooves for creating an electromagnetic field. A single-piece formed covering unit (7) is arranged at a top surface of the main tooth and made of a magnetic conductive material. The covering unit partially covers the top surface of the main tooth and a top surface of the windings. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an electric machine.
