The method involves transferring the sucked-cold refrigerant vapor in a piston cylinder system to small space under control of thermal valve by movement of the free-piston (9), and simultaneously increasing the pressure and temperature of refrigerant vapor. The superheated steam is cooled through heat exchangers (61) in heating circuit, vaporized by low temperature heat source, and conveyed to the output point of left-running cycle. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for producing heat and cold in left-running cycle, with thermal compressor.
